Lakme Fashion Week’16 Round Up | Day 5
We are on the last leg of Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2016. It was a great experience for us to attend and cover the whole event. We hope even you guys enjoyed reading about it. So, here is the last day round up for all our favourite designers. Go ahead, and read it!
The suspense that had kept everyone on edge about the words ‘Doubt is Out’ was finally revealed at a grand show when Reliance Retail presented the unveiling of a new E-commerce style destination AJIO.com. Divided into five collections, the show opened with an intriguing and mysterious Audio visual presentation that further heightened the excitement for the brand. Gender no bar, Age no bar, Role no bar, Size no bar & Choice no bar were the segments of the show giving the audience a message of being comfortable in your own skin.
Always inspired by the strength of the feminine, this season Neeta Lulla told the story of woman as a flower. Her new collection #SheIsMe, which was showcased at Lakme Fashion Week, speaks to her ethereal beauty and gentleness, but also an inherent tenacity in the face of abuse. Neeta Lulla’s immense expertise in prints and embellishment takes the collection through an entire gamut, from elegant evening wear to glamorous resort bridal wear.
Young, charismatic & dexterous designer Karn Malhotra showcased his chic debut collection ‘The Siren Squad’. It flaunted a range of eclectic outfits with mild traces of modern androgyny blended with sensuality in feminine cuts. The show began with Anushka Ranjan in a crisp white shirt and stylish pink pants. The look represented a range of day and sundowner-wear. It climaxed on a peppy and sexy note as Amy Jackson sashayed down the ramp looking ravishing in a monochrome ensemble mesmerising the audience with stripes and bling on the bodice.
The basis of a Rahul Mishra collection has always been textiles and the designer did not disappoint as he took the audience on a fabulous journey of intricate fabrics and Indian crafts. Inspired by the patterns and designs that are seen on beautiful porcelain, Rahul worked around them and then sprinkled the garments with Bandhani. When showstopper Ileana D’cruz glided on the ramp in a stunning blue hand embroidered silk floral gown with a dramatic cut-out back there was a hushed silence of admiration.
Rohit Bal’s collection inspired by ‘Illuminate’- the Lakmé beauty statement for the season, featured the glamorous diva, Kareena Kapoor Khan as the show stopper. The high priest of Indian fashion, Rohit’s interpretation of ‘Illuminate’ was a presentation of his fabulous craftsmanship, eye for detail and par excellence design aesthetics. The sartorial masterpieces made with meticulous detailing and attention reflected his love for the colours – ivory and subtle gold.
What we wore?
The last day of Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2016 called for comfortable and easy clothing but we had to keep up with the quirkiness of the event. Bri me is a pretty quirky brand with all its cute designs and graphics. Himansi wore this uber cool ‘work’ crop shirt and paired it up with a black structured pleated skirt. She wore these white sneakers and carried B&B (Bees & Baubles) bag for a street style look. Gona wore a three colored halter dress with pastel tones which looks ideal for summers. She paired it with this pastel blue colored sneakers to keep the whole look subtle.
